The Hermitage Church of Christ is committed to proclaiming the Gospel both locally and in foreign locations. The following areas of work are the main thrust of this work.
Inner City Ministry This is a cooperative effort with other Churches of Christ to reach out to the Nashville Inner City Ministry. The goal of the ministry is to reach the disadvantaged, many of whom are residents of low income housing projects. Assistance is offered with such basic need as food and clothing as well as counseling and Bible studies.
World Bible School Dozens of our members join with hundreds of other congregations to provide Bible studies to students over the world. Most of our students are located in Nigeria, Ghana, West Africa and Johannesburg. Ryan Staggs coordinates this work.
Honduran Churches The support from Hermitage has established thirteen congregations in Honduras. We presently provide full support for seven preachers in this country. James Mangrum visits each church three to four times yearly to insure their works have support, counsel and proper direction. Without this dedication and zeal for the Gospel, the work there could not go forward. These congregations collectively average 80 baptisms yearly. The congregations and ministers presently supported are as follows:
| Congregation | Minister |
| Santa Rosa | Jose Rene Rosa Polanco |
| La Esperanza | Juan Tomas Martinez |
| Santa Barbara | Carlos Edgardo Perdomo |
| Chinalcha | Saul Mejia |
| La Entrada | Julio Matute, Lelis Argueta |
| Que Brada Seca | Julio Matute, Lelis Argueta |
| Los Llanitas | Julio Matute, Lelis Agueta |
| Lepaera | Oscar Edgardo Erazo Pinoza |
| Santa Maria | Saul Mejia |
Tanzania Partial support is provided for Roger Shepherd for one or two mission trips to Tanzania each year. Typically twenty people are baptized on each trip.
Ghana Bible College Support was provided for William Ayisi, who completed his education at David Lipscomb University. Brother Ayisi was chosen to be the next president of Ghana Bible College and returned there for that position upon completion of his Master's degree. He is a native of Ghana and worshiped with the Hermitage congregation while in this country.
Parras, Mexico Julian Gonzalez has been supported by the Hermitage congregation for approximately sixteen years. Most of his work has been with the Aeroperto congregation in Torreon and the El Cambio congregation in El Cambio, Mexico. He also served as the minister for the Hispanic congregation at Hermitage. He recently returned to Mexico to establish a new work in the city of Parras.
Clemson Christian Student Center Danny Vaden grew up in the Hermitage congregation and was active in the Christian Student Center at Tennessee Tech University during his time in college. He became interested in this work and is now the director at the Christian Student Center at Clemson University. Danny is partially supported by the Hermitage congregation.
The Jack and Ann Smith Mission Fund The Jack and Ann Smith Mission Fund has provided funds for the Tanzania Ghana Bible College, and the Parras, Mexico work as well as various other mission efforts.
We ask that each member become familiar with these works and become involved in the support of the Hermitage mission effort as expressed in Luke 19:10. "For the Son of Man came to seek and save the lost."
